It's OUR Time
The Chicana/o Latina/o Studies Student Association would like to welcome you to a new semester and a New Year. We are excited to begin this new project, our monthly newsletter. We know that communication has been facilitated with the advancement of technology; we now have instant "live-feed" to events and sometimes it is all about hashtags and sharing posts on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. However, we feel that even with social media we can get lost with the abundance of posts, so we decided to begin this year with a new approach. Learning from our past, we realized powerful words connect people. While we will continue to post on social media, our main efforts will go into publishing our newsletter. We will be speaking our own words, publishing our own thoughts, and projecting our voice into the world.
This past semester we have witnessed firsthand the restrictive chains from administration and oppositional sentiment. We are not in any way replacing other news sources; we are simply telling our stories and projecting our voice to continue the momentum of our hard work. We hope that you can support us by reading our newsletter, passing it on to others, and hopefully contributing as well. Let us be ourselves, write our stories, and speak without fear. It is the time for our people and with this newsletter we break free.
