CMSC Mexico Study Abroad Trip

Undocumented Study abroad opportunity to Mexico for the summer! Interested please apply: http://california-mexicocenter.org/dreamers-summer2016/. This is an awesome opportunity I got the opportunity to take part in this program during the winter and highly recommend students who are undocumented to apply. The program I participated in was 24 days and allowed me to visit my family after 14 years. The program was broken down into three sections: 2 days in Mexico City, 8 days of field study (Family Visits), and 14 days in Cuernavaca for instructional time at CETLALIC. It is a life-changing program because the amount of knowledge and information you receive is a lot to take in but it helps you understand may things. Many were brought to the United States as children and have lived their entire lives in the U.S. Many begin to question their identity but with this program it helps you connect with your roots and your culture and we plan on extending this program to 100 students this summer. We are currently looking for funding in order to fund such a program but we know we will reach our goal and allow 100 students to go back to their home country and learn more about the indigenous roots and social movements in Mexico. The approximate cost of this study abroad opportunity ranges from $1,500-$2,000 but it is all worth it not only are getting the opportunity to learn more about your culture, language, and your self but you get to clear an “illegal” entry with a legal entry to the United States. As this program continues to expand more and more undocumented students will receive the opportunity to go back home and visit their country of origin.
